I wanted to share a link to a video of a TED presentation by Graham Hill called “ Less Stuff, More Happiness”

Most people push off organizing because it brings forth the contents in your life. People feel they will either have to purge, throw away or give away cherished items.

So I don’t blame people if they avoid organizing. I would not want to organize if I felt that–What a drag!

I realize it takes my clients a while to book a session with me I know when they struggle and how difficult the process can be.

Can I share a different perspective with you here?

Sometimes you need to give in order to get.

If you are yearning for a simpler life than why not try making small edits to your life now.

Give to get does not have to be an all or nothing it CAN be completed with EASE.

The basic principles can be easy to follow when looking at your space.

Look for the excess in your life and start there and slowly work your way thru that area.

Remember the goal is not deprivation or even sacrificing it’ simply to trim down.

I encourage you to do some life and space edits on your own.

Quotes From Steve Jobs

I love these quotes from Steve Jobs, just thought I would share some inspiring words with you today.

Your time is limited, so don’t waste it living someone else’s life. Don’t be trapped by dogma — which is living with the results of other people’s thinking.

The only way to do great work is to love what you do. If you haven’t found it yet, keep looking.

Don’t settle. As with all matters of the heart, you’ll know when you find it.

Don’t ever be afraid to be who you are and to stand up for what you believe.

They’ll get over it, trust me.

Don’t let the noise of others’ opinions drown out your own inner voice. And most important, have the courage to follow your heart and intuition.

They somehow already know what you truly want to become. Everything else is secondary.

It makes me think if I lived my life 5% simpler-  what would my  life look like?

Your’e Allowed!

When I turned 40 (a few years back) I decided to make my 40’s the decade of “YES” I would try as many things possible, each new idea, concept or even a new thing to do would begin with the phrase I can try instead of I can’t.

But with that being said I think most people would think I struggle with the word “NO” and to be honest the majority of the time I don’t. A long time ago I thought it was a flaw to say ‘NO” but now I realize it’s absolutely not.

I have come to the understanding that I am responsible for managing my time and it’s up to me to ensure I set boundaries for myself. I really enjoying living a simplified and balanced life, which implementing boundaries into my life have been so helpful for me?  Before if someone, a friend, family member or even an acquaintance asked me to something I would jump at the chance, you see I am a DO-er so I must DO! But I soon realized that saying “no” does not mean I am incapable, it just means it does not fit into my schedule.

For those of you who HATE to disappoint people or if you cringe at the “oh no” look on peoples faces when you say “not this time”. Trust me that feeling will soon fade. Each time you send out “not this time” you are creating time for you.  Gone will be the days of awkward positions with requests. It’s not your job to do everything. You can still be helpful and there will be some  Yes or two but first try the No’s first.

It’s important to have a sense of space  in your life, a place that is whole, nurtured and not being pulled in a million directions. Even if the world is demanding don’t worry plant both feet firmly on the ground and create those boundaries.

Here’s to a few awkward moments, as you and I learn to set boundaries!

Limited Space?

In our tiny home we have a tiny, tiny bathroom. We always have just dealt with the fact it was small and had no storage was available.  We learned to modify and it worked up until lately. Our bathroom was used for 3 things wash hands; shower and you can guess the last.

A small leak that turned into a BIG leak, you know how that goes. The sink had to go and then replacing the sink spiraled into a mini bathroom remodel. One of my huge frustration was the lack of storage and the fact I could never find the right angle for the mirror to see the back of my head.

Hubby dismantled while I shopped, crazy huh? We have been re doing things around the house for so long now. We have it down pact I measure, I shop and he pulls apart and builds, then together we put it together. We end up being a good team! A possible business ventures, hmm….maybe?

I thought I’d share our bathroom transformation with you today.

Even The Neighborhood Hawk

It’s been so hot lately that even our local hawk needed to cool off today…

He has been eyeing my little bird bath

but decided that this would be just fine.

Cars were driving by and some even turned right next to him ,

he just hopped over and not once did he move OUT of the water.

He must of  been pretty hot today!

Fresh and Simple Lunch

I have been on a crazy kick lately…I have been eating this lunch all summer long. The summer heat really makes me want to snack all day.

This snack has become a consistent staple in my snack rotation.

My husband sees me eating this and says “That AGAIN!”

Oh geez hubby, look at this isn’t it yummy?

Hubby only nods and walks away…

That’s okay more for me!

The Space Issue {update}

{Update}

I finally decided to add a heavier curtain instead of doors. I really like to see my closet at a glance and using curtains to me seemed the best way to achieve this.  See pic below…

Back when my husband and I were dating we made the joint decision to live with each other before we took our relationship to the next level of commitment- Marriage.

The Master Bedroom only had 1 closet and growing up himself with 3 women he knew that 1 closet was just not enough space for him and I. So he built an additional closet in the room for me! How sweet, huh? The closet was basic had an upper and lower hang bars, room for bulky stuff above and some hooks inside for belts.

It was such a kind gesture I never had the heart to tell him it did not work for my clothes. The hang bars we too close together my tops ran into my skirts/pants/dresses and they crinkled at the bottom, which made them become wrinkled and dusty all the time. My purses were so high I could never see all of them and would forget about them. I had no space for my belts, scarves and jewelry.

Fast Forward 8 years and I cannot take it anymore that closet and I are at war. My strategy is to win this battle and it began with some major RESEARCH. I spent my time looking at different closet systems and mapping out what I needed in my new closet.

When attempting to organize ask yourself?

•Do you like to fold or hang?

•Is the current you own current?

• Do you have the clothing worn often accessible?

Having such a small space I needed to maximize and keep things streamlined. I found this system at Home Depot it was perfect for me:  1. Fit my budget 2. Fit my needs. My needs were: I needed a place for everything and I wanted all my items streamlined into one space. Guess, what? I was able to do that! I used to have my items spread out in different cubbies and also in another room but with careful planning I was able to house all my categories in one closet!

Yea! My skirts have NO crinkle, wrinkle or dust!

I decided!
