What was your Treat?

I posted this last November: I read an entry  in one of Sara Van Breathnach books(sorry I can’t remember which one) she talks about doing something special for YOU. She suggests that you can set aside some money each week and then by the end of the year go out and splurge on a item for yourself.

I took this to heart and have been doing this for about 5 years now. Sometimes I set aside a little each week and sometimes I start in October and each week I set a little bit aside. Where do I put it? I set it aside in a winter coat I never really wear ( CA never gets that cold!).

If I set aside every week @ $10 a week x 52 weeks in the year= $520 to spend on ME

If I set aside every week  @ 10$ a week x  14 weeks is $140 to spend on ME.

For me it’s really not about the money as much as the SPLURGE I can spend money on anything I like and I don’t need to worry about anyone buy ME.

Come and join me! I can’t wait to hear about your Splurge!

Now it’s  April! Have you set aside money for YOU?

My DIY What do you think?

I have been holding onto a little secret.

For the past few months I have been on a major treasure hunt, each week I have been searching for someone’s discard

and slowly transforming it into my very own treasure.

Boy talk about needing some TLC!

This was a labor of love and partnership the piece had been layered  with veneer not once but TWICE.

It was painstakingly slow chiseling away at it each layer.

I managed okay but at one point the hubby had to step in my  guns could not take it- I needed reinforcements.

See how thin the veneer was?

This piece had seen way better days and I took pride in knowing I would bring it back to life.

We already knew where we would place it all that was left was HARD WORK & EFFORT!

Transformed into a media center for our living room!

The piece on top came with it a dirty, dingy and beat up granite.

We took a little water and buffed it out and WOW it’s so shiny!

Granite gets a second chance to shine.

We added a couple of pull handles to the cabinets door

Great space for all my TV accessories!

I can now gather all of our TV accessories: blankets for us, blankets for the Boxers, DVD’s, Hubby PS2, CD’s, Yoga Mat,Books and remotes.

I love it a place for everything plus you can’t see everything we have!

Desktop Before

When you are surrounded by clutter, the very idea of de-cluttering can be overwhelming.

Even the idea to tackle your clutter can be can be mind-boggling.

You might be wondering if your life will ever be free of clutter?

You might even be thinking I can work around these endless piles; it’s not so bad.

Desktop Before

Well, define not so bad?

Are you having a difficult time locating things?

My DIY What do you think?

I have been holding onto a little secret. For the past few months I have been on a major treasure hunt, each week I have been searching for someone’s discard and slowly transforming it into my very own treasure.

This piece was found on the side of a very busy street, a road kill to say the least. I just had to save it from the dump, with much effort I was able to single handedly get it into my car. I had big dreams for this piece, a little TLC and I knew it would be a gem.

I have been in need of a Pet Center, I just have too many things for all my animals needs and I had nowhere to put them. No space created clutter and that created a bit of chaos in my home. Pet items were everywhere; animals can have a lot of accessories. Plus my husband and I purchased a new terrarium for our frog and I had no stand to place it on.  I needed something!
