Limited Space?

In our tiny home we have a tiny, tiny bathroom. We always have just dealt with the fact it was small and had no storage was available.  We learned to modify and it worked up until lately. Our bathroom was used for 3 things wash hands; shower and you can guess the last.

A small leak that turned into a BIG leak, you know how that goes. The sink had to go and then replacing the sink spiraled into a mini bathroom remodel. One of my huge frustration was the lack of storage and the fact I could never find the right angle for the mirror to see the back of my head.

Hubby dismantled while I shopped, crazy huh? We have been re doing things around the house for so long now. We have it down pact I measure, I shop and he pulls apart and builds, then together we put it together. We end up being a good team! A possible business ventures, hmm….maybe?

I thought I’d share our bathroom transformation with you today.

Don’t Give Up On A Small Space!

My Hallway needed a little something…

It was this little space but it had potential to be something.

I just needed to figure out what!

Each day I would walk by and think “it’s so plain and BORING!”

The pictures are from our wedding in Costa Rica

It’s tiny space but still notable!

If anyone ever tells you decals are not worth it, they probably have never tried them. I have had these decals for 3 years! They have been on every wall in my home and they still stick!

My $14 investment has proven itself well!

It’s coming together…

Using the decals with the frame added some fun!

Do you think these pics will remind my husband our anniversary is approaching?

All That Glitters In Your Bedroom

{ image by the Italian voice}

Did you know it’s a fact the average human spends more time in his/her bedroom than in any other room in the house? Many times this room is designed for sleeping and nothing else.

I am here to tell you it does not need to be like that at all! Your bedroom should be your own personal haven with an ambience that relates to relaxation, meditation, reading, and of course romance.

Here are some things to consider when creating a Bedroom Haven:

Experiment with color.

Color is not permanent! You can always change the color. Get helpful advice here or ask a stylish friend. I love this site when I am trying to figure out a color palette. Remember to use colors that reflect you and will reflect a calm serene space.

 Create nature.

Plants can add serenity and interest to a bedroom, not to mention oxygenating the air and adding a natural feel/look.

 Create a Reading Space.

If you have the space, create a reading area by adding a comfy oversized chair or a chaise lounge. Place a nice lamp and a small bookcase for all your inspirational and or favorite books. Keep a selection of soul nourishing books at your bedside.

 Invest in Luxury.

Purchase high quality cottons. Your sleep should be as cozy and comforting as possible.

 Cultivate Gratitude.

Keep your daily gratitude journal on your nightstand. Each night pause and write down a few things you were grateful for that day.  It is a good way to shift into a positive uplifting mood before slumber calls.

 Create Relaxation.

Find a cute tray and use it as your tea tray. Try herbal (non caffeine) tea. Fill a beautiful ceramic teapot and sip away, enjoying a relaxing moment.

 Create Ambience.

Place several candles (your favorite scent) and light them at night. Try putting candles in front of a mirror and watch the light reflect; it creates a romantic feel immediately. Don’t forget music! It can instantly shift your mood. Try relaxing and calm music to help lull you to sleep.

A Transformed Office Space

“Picking up the phone to call Shelley was the smartest thing I’ve ever done. I was looking for someone special to renovate a bedroom into an office. Shelley uses a different, more subtle set of tools, among them: her organizational proficiency, her empathy, her taste, her ability to listen, her tendency to really care, her common sense and – perhaps most importantly – her imagination & resourcefulness.”

“Shelley transformed the room into a beautiful office that is now efficient, attractive and a productive space. Not only that, I am now implementing the tips Shelley taught me to stay organized & she set it up so I will be able to maintain the system.”

“After Shelley was finished, it became one of my favorite places to hang out. That translated into getting more work done and making more money! By using Shelley’s supreme gifts to create this office space, I felt like I could fly & it got me inspired to transform others rooms! ”

“Everything feels perfectly manageable and in the present. But probably the best part of it all; is that after working with Shelley, I have gained a whole new sense of being able to be active and feel alive at home.”

Liberated Spaces

This  was a much needed Closet transformation!  We had an organizers favorite word space, but where was all the stuff?   The clutter was roaming thru this family’s hallways and entry way.

Clutter loves to multiply, a great to keep it controlled is to create a specific space for the items that are overcrowding your home. That’s where this closet made for a perfect match.

We had clutter and the closet had space.

We took the empty closet and filled it with bins. Each bins is categorized and labeled. If you in doubt if the items to bin will be used and easily accessible then I suggest you label your bins with a post it. It’s a great way to keep stuff labelled but also offers flexibility in case you change your mind. I label like this give it a week or two and then go back and place a label from my P-touch.

Now that  stuff is placed in a central ares it  makes it  much more easier for everyone to find items and also know exactly where to put it away.

Here are the categories we created a home for:

  • Electronics for home
  • Iron and Iron Board
  •  Extra School Supplies
  •  Run off Office supplies
  • Reusable bags
  • Trays for meals

All that clutter was floating around and now we have it all centralized in one space.  Not only did we maximize but we cleared clutter at the same time!

Are you in decorating fear?

Frozen in time you can’t make a decision about color, design, room purpose.

Everyone’s opinion becomes more important than your own

Action or rather lack of-can’t start, finish, or try =no action

Rule follower instead of surrounding yourself with what you actually enjoy.

Don’t let FEAR grab a hold of you!

Spend time excavating your style, trust me it will be the best investment of time you’ll ever spend!

Move It! Your Closet Needs Space!

Here are a few tips to help keep your wardrobe free of UN necessary clutter and most importantly SIMPLIFIED. Woo-hoo we love SIMPLE!

1. List It.
I am sure this happens to most of us, you are getting ready for a date or event, and you think, “ I need a _____ for this _____” Place a post it with a pencil in your closet. Tuck the notes in your purse and the next time you go shopping, you will have a friendly reminder(s) of your wardrobe needs.
2. Flip It.
If you are UN sure about an item. If you can’t remember if you like it ? Just flip the hanger around. Leave it that way until you wear it. The next time you are going thru your closet and it is still there, time to decide if it makes the cut or not.

3. Visualize It.
Be present with your wardrobe. Your clothing needs to represent your life right now. Items from college need to be removed. Those HOT jeans you wore in you 20’s need to bust a move and GO! Don’t be sad, moving on can mean different things. Placing them in storage, creating space somewhere else in your home. They need to be removed from your present life. Only garments that you wear each day belong in your closet.

4. Invest in It.
Go for the gold! Go for quality over quantity! Have a couple of perfect white tees than a dozen so so ones. Need extra guidance buy a book on image body proportions? I love the 2 books from Charla Krupp HOW TO NEVER LOOK FAT AGAIN. She made the it simple and easy for me to follow guidelines on my body type.
